Week 5 & 6 — Activity 8: Outline a Student Graphics Activity

Learning Outcome:

Students will be able to identify the difference among the four Grand Slam in tennis and recognize the essential elements of a tennis Grand Slam tournament.

Goal & Scope:

This activity is designed for grade 8 to grade 10 students in the tennis summer camp. Students will work in groups of 4 to 6 to work on the infographic presentation on one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. There will be four groups working on each tournament. At the final stage, each work will be combined as the summer class’s final project – an infographic portfolio of the four Grand Slam tournaments: Australia, France, Wimbledon, and the United States.

Boundaries:

Students will be working in at least four groups and choosing one of the Grand Slam as a topic. After the group is formed the class will work together and decide which information should be presented at the final infographic work (what kind of information do you want to know about the tournament? Which facts do you think is necessary for people to know?). The results of the discussion will contribute to an information template that will help each group focus on the same questions and content when conducting the research. Students will use Canva or other advanced tools if possible, to create their infographics.

The final presentation will be about 5 minutes long, and the final work of the class will be printed out as one part of the summer camp portfolio.

  1. Interesting idea, I thought that there might be a little more graphically but it gets the point across.
